FUKUOKA, Japan - Tetsuo Machii (R), a vice president of Toshiba Corp., apologizes July 22 to a customer (back to camera) at a hotel in Fukuoka, Kyushu, for rude remarks made by a Toshiba customer service official to the customer when he complained about a videocassette player. The disgruntled customer set up an Internet Web site to publicize how badly he had been treated. The site had been accessed more than 5.8 million times by July 19.
